HS code classification for EU imports

Every product that enters the EU needs a tariff code. The code sets the duty, the rules that apply at the border and, for parcels, how many item types pay €3 and €2. We classify your catalogue and give you the code, the duty rate and the measures for each product.

From €49 per 100 products, excl. VAT. Included for goods we import for you

Short answer

An EU customs declaration needs a tariff code for each product: 8 digits of the Combined Nomenclature, 10 with TARIC. A wrong code means the wrong duty, and customs can claim unpaid duty for up to three years. Noda classifies your products and gives you, for each one, the code, the EU duty rate and the measures that apply. For goods we declare as your importer, it is included. For a catalogue on its own, from €49 per 100 products.

What you get for each product

  • The code: 8-digit CN code, and the 10-digit TARIC code where the EU sets measures at that level.
  • The duty rate: the EU's third-country rate, and the preferential rate if your country of origin has a trade agreement or GSP.
  • The measures: anti-dumping duty, CBAM, EUDR, licences or bans that the code triggers.
  • The wording: a goods description customs accepts, and the product identifiers the declaration needs from 1 November 2026.
  • The questions: where a product could fall under two codes, the facts that decide it.

You get it as a table you can load into your shop, your IOSS data or your forwarder's system.

Why the code matters

Duty

The same T-shirt can pay a different rate under a different code. The code decides, not the price.

€3 and €2 per item type

On parcels, each tariff code in a parcel is one item type. Two codes mean twice €3 + €2. EU parcel rules 2026

Rules at the border

CBAM, EUDR and anti-dumping duties attach to codes. A wrong code can hide a rule your goods must meet.

Audits

Customs can notify unpaid duty for up to three years after import. A checked code is cheaper than a claim later.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send your catalogue

A CSV or a shop export: product names, materials, function, photos, country of origin.

  2. 2

    We classify

Product by product, against the CN and TARIC. We ask when a fact is missing.

  3. 3

    You get the table

Code, duty rate, measures and the description, for each product.

  4. 4

    We use it

In the declarations we file as your importer, or you use it with your carrier and IOSS.

What we need from you

  • Product name and what it does
  • Materials or composition, by weight where it matters (textiles, food, chemicals)
  • Photos and a datasheet or manual for technical products
  • Country of origin, and the codes you use today, if any

What we don't do

  • A code from us is our classification for your declarations. Only a Binding Tariff Information decision from customs binds the authorities, for three years. We prepare the application with you when you need that certainty.
  • We don't guess. When a product could fall under two codes, we tell you and ask for the facts that decide.
  • We don't classify goods for trade to or from Russia or Belarus. Sanctions policy

Common questions

What is the difference between an HS code, a CN code and a TARIC code?

The HS code is the international 6-digit code. The EU adds two digits for the CN code, which sets the duty. TARIC adds two more where the EU applies measures, such as anti-dumping duty or a quota.

Do I need tariff codes for parcels sent through IOSS?

Yes. Each line of the customs declaration carries a tariff code, and each code in a parcel is one item type for the €3 duty and the €2 Union handling fee. From 1 November 2026, the declaration also needs product identifiers.

How much does it cost?

Included for goods we declare as your importer. For a catalogue on its own: from €49 per 100 products, excl. VAT. Variants that differ only in size or colour count as one product. Larger catalogues are priced in your proposal.

Is your classification binding?

It is the code we use in the declarations we file for you. Only customs can make a code binding, through a Binding Tariff Information decision, valid for three years. We prepare the application with you.

What if a code was wrong in past imports?

It can be corrected. Customs can notify unpaid duty for up to three years after the debt arose, and overpaid duty can be claimed back. Send us the declarations and we check them.
